TUENSANG, DECEMBER 27 (MExN): The Under-17 Youth League Football Tournament organized by the Haat-Jang Brothers in collaboration with the Tuensang District Football Association, a first of its kind for the district, was held from December 18-22. The venue was at the Astro Turf Loyem Memorial Ground.
A total of 12 teams vied for supremacy, bringing a palpable sense of excitement and competitive spirit to the picturesque Loyem Memorial Ground. The grand finale saw Shaangle FC emerge victorious, triumphing over Loyem Memorial High School, Tuensang, with a decisive scoreline of 2-0. The man of the moment was Beso, wearing jersey number 7, who showcased remarkable skill and finesse, scoring both goals for Shaangle FC.
The champions, Shaangle FC, not only claimed the coveted title but also walked away with a cash prize of Rs 30,000, a trophy, and certificates. The runners-up, Loyem Memorial High School, received Rs 20,000 along with certificates.
Semi-finalists Government High School Chingmei and Legend Boys FC Angangba, each received a cash prize of Rs 5,000.
The individual accolades were given to Beso of Shaangle FC for earning the Golden Boot, having netted a total of eight goals throughout the tournament; Tochi of Loyem Memorial High School was awarded the Golden Glove, while the Golden Ball, recognizing the tournament’s best player, went to Shangpelong Chuba of Shaangle FC.
