Shamator, October 20 (MExN): Five-day beekeeping training was conducted at Shamator Town by Shekinah Christian Foundation (SCF) in collaboration with North East Centre for Technology Application and Reach (NECTAR) under the theme ‘bee-keeping for a healthier and sustainable future’ from October 12 to 16.
Altogether, 25 trainees comprising of Women SHGs and unemployed youth from Shamator Town and three villages namely Shamator Village, Liangkonger Village, and Wapher Village participated in the training, stated a press release received here.
The programme was graced by the presence of Thsuvisie Phoji, NCS, Deputy Commissioner, Shamator District, who exhorted the trainees on the importance of practicing bee-keeping alongside other farming activities in order to have a constant source of income and improve one’s living standard, on the day of the commencement of the training. He stated that honey was not only medicinal, but a complete food as well. He also stressed that the District Administration was always ready to lend any support to the farmers whenever required.
The culmination programme was graced by Amit Kumar, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Shamator District. He spoke on the importance of learning to be self-reliant in order to achieve true upliftment. He stated that there was enough avenues for unemployed youths and women to harness the potentiality of the rich Natural Resources in the area by taking up Bee-keeping as a profession. He also stressed that Women Empowerment would be best utilised in women honing their skills and talents by playing a proactive role in the economy of the family and society as a whole.
