Shamator-Chessore student bodies initiate clean election campaign

Shamator, May 2 (MExN): To promote Clean Election Movement in the 58 Shamator- Chessore Assembly Constituency, the students’ unions of different villages of the Shamator and Chessore area, conducted a consultative meeting at the Guest House Hall, Shamator Town on April 30.

Initiated by the Shamator and Chessore Students’ Unions, various speakers from different Students’ Unions pointed out the need to promote the Clean Election Campaign, and also stressed on the corrupt electioneering process/system which has had a very negative impact not only politically but also on the socio-economic lives of the people.

According to a press release received here on Monday, during the meeting, it was pointed out that the move for the Clean Election Campaign was not against any political parties or leaders. It is also not to go against the interest of any NGOs be it our different apex bodies or subordinating units but “solely fighting against the corruption that is rooted in our political system,” it said.

The meeting also stressed on various topics like the prohibition of materialistic campaign or money laundering, prohibition of liquor, public gathering attracting unwanted activities, setting up of camps, etc., and the importance of creating awareness in the minds of the people on right voting and clean election. The student leaders pointed that the youths of today can be the only agent of change only if they sacrifice for the good cause and it is time the youths should act which ultimately will have a larger impact in shaping the future of the generations to come and do away with the corrupt practices in the system, the release stated.

The meeting concluded by adopting various resolutions and also stressed on the working and implementation of the resolutions adopted which are to be upheld in true spirit by each village students’ union. During the discussion, it urged all the leaders and right-thinking citizens to come forward and support the movement.
