Dimapur, February 11 (MEXN): More organisations and civil societies across the state today reacted strongly in condemning the February 6 killing in Shamator and the violence which ensued in the aftermath of the incident. A couple identified as T Alemba Sangtam and Narola was shot dead by unidentified miscreant(s) in the incident.
NSCN (IM): The NSCN (IM) today in equal terms condemned the ‘brutal murder’ of the couple as well as the “arson and destruction” of houses committed by a mob in the aftermath of the incident. In a press statement issued its Ministry of Information & Publicity (MIP), the NSCN (IM) conveyed its deep sympathy and condolences to the bereaved orphans and to the families of the victims.
The NSCN (IM) further appealed the people to localize the incident and to solve the problem amicably through peaceful means. The incident has affected scores of students who are appearing their Board examinations and other day-to-day daily lives, which is a social wrong, the statement further read.
In this connection, the NSCN (IM) also informed that it is investigating into the matter and will bring the perpetrators of “this reprehensible act of terrorism” to justice. All those responsible for the killings shall be held accountable, NSCN (IM) stressed urging all citizens to actively cooperate in this regard.
NMA: The Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA) today strongly condemned the series of violence and the killing of an innocent couple in Kiphire on February 6. The association also strongly censured the recent murder of Charlie Hangsing on February 2 and the “brutal rape” of a minor disabled girl in Kohima. Expressing its deep resentment over the tragic trail of violence and bloodshed, the NMA in a condemnation note received here said, “Such destructive trend of violence must be abjured at all cost.”
In this regard, the mothers’ association urged the government to seriously probe into these crimes and bring the culprits to book. It also fervently appealed the citizens as well as different Naga political groups for peace and sanity. “Co-operate with the law enforcing agencies and exercise utmost restraint and avoid spreading of rumours, provocative comments to avoid further escalation of tension” it requested. NMA further conveyed its deep condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for the departed souls to rest in peace.
CMO Kiphire: CMO & Staffs of Medical Department, Kiphire today flayed the killing of one of its own fraternity T Narola and her husband, Alemba Sangtam on February 6. “Narola dedicated her life for the welfare of the community and served as an ANM Singrep SC for over 12 years. We mourn their death as a great loss to the society and humanitarian service, we pray that their souls rest in peace,” the CMO Office Kiphire stated in its condolence note. The Department extending its heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family members also assures all assistance with regard to her service matters.
TSU: The Tikhir Students’ Union (TSU) strongly condemned the “inhuman” killing of T Alemba and Naro and further challenged every individual and society to condemn the same so that such “innocent killing” does not recur in future.
In a press note issued by its President Temong Y Tikhir and General Secretary S. Longkamse, the union also urged the Government, NGOs and State Security to initiate the arrest of perpetrator(s) at the earliest and award befitting punishment within no time.
“While condemning the killing of innocent, we express our ‘deep cry’ and share our tears to the lost lives and bereaved family members” it added.
SVSU: The Seyochung Village Students’ Union (SVSU) has also strongly condemned the “cold-blooded” murder of the couple in Shamator on February 6. In a condemnation note issued through its President K Chumseli Anar, SVSU called upon the Naga people from various NGOs, Churches and societies to join in condemning the inhuman act.
SVSU further demanded that all culprit(s) involved in the killing be booked at the earliest so that justice is delivered. The Union also extended its boundless support to the decision taken by the three apex organizations and urged the government to fulfill the six point charter demand at the earliest. Further, SVSU expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family members of the couple and prayed that their souls rest in peace.
Longkhim-Chare GB’s Union: At a meeting held today Longkhim Town, the Longkhim Chare Area GB’s Union strongly condemned the “cold- blooded murder” on February 6. “There is no place in this civilized society for anyone to commit such a barbaric act in the present context,” the Union stated in a press note issued by its President Chubangangshi. It also conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for eternal peace for the departed souls.
The GB’s Union also strongly resolved to stand, through “thick and thin”, with the ultimatum submitted to the state government by the United Sangtam Likhum Pumji (USLP), United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) and the Akehda Santamlaru Thsingmujang (AST).
Any suspicious movement of any stranger within Longkhim and Chare jurisdiction shall be dealt with an iron hand, the Union further resolved. It also fervently urged the concerned authority to arrest the culprit(s) as early as possible so as to bring normalcy back to the environment. The Union further asked the “people of ENPO” that when the world is negotiating and yearning for peace & harmony, “why violence and bloodshed in our area?”
RVC: The Rurur Village Council has strongly condemned the “senseless” murders of Alemba and his wife Narola. The council stated that the murder occurred under the Rurur jurisdiction and added that this has created fear psychosis among the citizens of the area. RVC also condemned allegations by vested individuals accusing the village council and its citizens of being responsible for the incident. In the event of untoward incidents occurring to its citizens, “stern action” would be initiated against the person responsible for updating and wrongfully alleging in various social media, the village council warned. The council appealed the law enforcing authority to arrest the culprit without delay and bring permanent solution to the prevailing situation. The council has also extended condolences to the bereaved family on behalf of its citizens and prayed that truth and justice be dispensed.
ENSUD: The Eastern Naga Students’ Union Dimapur has vehemently condemned the brutal murders of late Alemba and Naro and has appealed the law enforcing agencies to expedite the case and bring the perpetrators to justice. The Union also appealed to the public in Kiphire and Shamator to maintain peace in order to avoid untoward incidents as it will only create more hindrance to innocent public and the student community, particularly those appearing exams.
ANHTU: The All Nagaland Hindi Teachers’ Union has also condemned the murder of the couple. Terming the act “demonic”, the Teachers’ union called upon law enforcing agencies to expedite the investigations and bring the “insane perpetrators” to justice at the earliest. The union also extended condolences to the families and friends of the victims and prayed that the Almighty provide solace to the family.
SSUK: The Sangtam Students’ Union Kohima (SSUK) today has expressed “outrage, appallment and anguish” over the “barbaric” killing of an innocent couple on February 6 near Shamator and fiercely condemned the same.
A press note from SSUK President L Horiba and General Secretary Kokvila Sangtam conveyed its firm endorsement of the stand taken by three apex Sangtam organisations to arrest the culprit(s) within a stipulated time.
“We also join the people in expressing condolence to the bereaved family and friends of the victim,” it added.
NMVSU: The New Monger Village Students’ Union has strongly condemned the February killing.
A press condemnation issued by its President Shikaho K stated that such “cold blooded murder” will only bring hatred and violence in society and should be condemned by all.
It further conveyed its firm support to the stand taken by three apex Sangtam organisations to arrest the culprit(s) within a stipulated time and appealed the government to fulfil the demand at the earliest. NMVSU also expressed its heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family members and prayed for peace for the departed soul.
