Dimapur July 20 (MExN): Prominent organizations, the clergy, public leaders and administration of Shamator town held a Joint Consultative meeting on July 15 where it was resolved that any underground faction issuing threats with arms as well as anti-socials jeopardizing the peace of the area would not be tolerated. Action towards such occurrences would be sternly initiated, it was resolved. The Joint Consultative Meeting was organized by the Shamator Town Students Union.
“It is resolved that any faction threatening the public with arms and harassing (the people) without any reason, action will be taken as deemed fit by the union. Any person threatening the public and (creating) problems with wrong intentions, stern action will be taken accordingly” stated a release of the meeting issued through Toshi Akhang, Press Secretary highlighting the resolutions taken. The meeting also resolved that any government servant ‘playing a game of transferring with posts’ under Shamator would be penalized with no further “investigation” and the students’ organization will keep vigil in “every offices.” Salaries would be held up against duty-defaulters on the policy of “now work, no pay” the release added. It was also resolved that a public forum will be formed by 2006 end.
“The notion behind adopting (the) resolutions (is) basically meant to create a better environment in and around Shamator town. Therefore, every citizen, government administration and neighboring villages are requested to co-operate in order to build (a) harmonious society” the release stated.
