Amy Winehouse’s family are convinced that the Back to Black singer passed away because she quit the booze, it has been reported. It is thought that Amy had been told to cut down on her drinking gradually, but her cold turkey approach to quitting the booze gave her frail body a shock it couldn’t handle.
Amy’s parents are said to believe she died by a seizure because her body could not cope with such a dramatic withdrawal, The Sun has reported. A source close to the family told the paper: ‘Abstinence gave her body such a fright they thought it was eventually the cause of her death.’ The Rehab singer was found dead at her Camden home by a body guard on Saturday and after an inconclusive autopsy her funeral was held on Tuesday attended by her close friends and family.
Amy’s father Mitch gave a touching eulogy where he said that Amy had beaten her battle with drink and drugs and she hadn’t drunk for three weeks and hadn’t touched drugs for years. However it has been claimed that the singer was drinking gin and red bull drinks at the Roundhouse in Camden three days before her death as her goddaughter Dionne Bromfield performed as part of the iTunes festival.
Speaking on Tuesday Mitch told mourners: ‘Three years ago, Amy conquered her drug dependency, the doctors said it was impossible but she really did it. She was trying hard to deal with her drinking and had just completed three weeks of abstinence.’ 'She said, "Dad, I've had enough of drinking. I can't stand the look on your and the family's faces any more'

Amy Winehouse’s Boyfriend Going Through Hell
Amy Winehouse‘s boyfriend Reg Traviss has been going through “hell” since her death on Saturday. The director — who joined the late singer’s parents Mitch and Janis and brother Alex outside her house in Camden, north London, yesterday to visit shrines created by fans — admits he has lost his “darling” who he has described as a “beautiful” person. “The last three days have been hell. We have suffered a terrible untimely loss and want peace,” he said. “I can’t describe what I am going through and I want to thank so much all of the people who have paid their respects and who are mourning the loss of Amy, such a beautiful, brilliant person and my dear love. I have lost my darling who I loved very much.”
The 35-year-old filmmaker added the Rehab hitmaker, who he had been dating on and off for two years, had been making improvements to her alcohol and drug-fuelled lifestyle and had started exercising regularly before her shock passing at the age of just 27 at the weekend. He is convinced her death is a tragic “accident” as she was planning to go to a wedding on Sunday. “She has been so full of life and so upbeat recently, exercising everyday and doing yoga. This terrible thing that happened is like an accident,” he added. Discussing the wedding, he added, “Amy kept trying to decide what to wear. She had laid out dresses to make up her mind, she was really looking forward to it.” Amy’s funeral is set took place today, with only close friends and family invited.
