SHGs can apply for loan from village through Jan Samarth App: NSRLM

KOHIMA, JUNE 15 (MExN): The Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) has achieved a major milestone in enabling SHGs to apply for loan from their doorstep through online application, popularly known as Jan Samarth App.

An online loan application training for the area coordinators (AC-FI) and district coordinators (DCFI) from BMMUs and DMMUs of 74 blockswas conducted from June 10-12 at Kohima.

During the training, 21 SHG loan applications amounting to 73.5 lakhs were processed through Jan Samarth App.

Earlier in the inaugural address, the State Program Manager -Financial Inclusion (SPM-FI), Rajuselie Lhousa said the field staffs, who are facilitators, in providing all needs of the SHG, should reorient oneself to provide services as per the emerging needsof the community.

He stressed that loan application from the villages is of great necessity in Nagaland since the villages are un-banked and uncovered. The rural population not only spend huge amount to reach the bank branches but works does not get done/completed in a single day, reportedly due to limited man-power in branch and concentration of bank staff in their usual businesses etc.

The SPM-FI said the field staff will be providing the same training to SHGs in the villages very soon, to enable them to apply for loan from their village itself.

The resource person for the online loan application training was TokiviShohe, Program Manager-Digital Finance (PM-DF), state mission management unit.
