The inauguration and base-level training programme of the Mezoma Progressive Farmer’s Club under NABARD’s Farmers Club promotion programme was successfully held here today at the Mezoma Progressive Farmer’s Club office with the presence of Managing
irector, Nagaland State Cooperative Bank B.K Thadani and M.C Gayari, AGM, NABARD, Dimapur as the resource person.
Enlightening the club on the role of the bank, B.K Thadani in his inaugural address said that the Progressive Farmer’s Club should be pioneers in promoting Self Help Groups. “We are ready to extend help to the Self Help Groups,” he said. Assuring to be partners for their development, he further encouraged the farmers to be dedicated and honest and work together for achieving their desired goals.
M.C Gayari, AGM, NABARD, Dimapur, who was also the resource person for the training programme in his address said that Progressive Farmer’s Club is a platform for farmers to come together, discuss and share on various aspects of improving their standard and production. “The main motto of the club should be development in making the best use of the infrastructure” he said.
In the training programme, Gayari highlighted the club on the basic requirements to run as a Farmers’ Club. Stating that banks are playing important role for development of economic activities where development through credit is a benefit for the farmers, he encouraged them to have proper coordination with the bank, allied government departments and also among each other.
Opining that a minimum of ten members is needed for the well functioning/ starting similar clubs, he asked them to hold frequent meeting to share and discuss on various problems and also to take up decisions for their development. He further called upon them to have continuous communication with the banks and interface discussions with others for improvement.
The programme was organized by the Nagaland State Co-operative Bank Ltd. Kohima main branch and was attended by a number of enthusiastic farmers along with NABARD and NSCB officials. Earlier, Visakuolie Chusi, pastor MBC said invocation prayers to begin the programme. Rajuselie Lhousa, Board of Director, NSCB, Kohima chaired the session while Neilhousalie Vizo, Recovery Officer, NSCB, Kohima main branch proposed the vote of thanks.
