Dimapur, August 3 (MExN): The Konyak Union has clarified that the issue of shifting of Tobu Headquarter is not finalized as reported in a section of the local media on July 20.
The KU maintained that the news reported is a misleading propaganda given by vested interests and asserted that to the KU the Tobu issue is “not a big issue” but “a family issue” which is “itching both the tribes of Konyak and Chang”.
“With best and good faith, Konyaks and Changs were asked to site (sic) and discuss the matter together by the ENPO at Dimapur on January 17, 2006 in which the representatives from CKS has put up the agenda for the shifting of ADC headquarter Tobu, the matter could not be ruled out and left to ENPO” clarified a KU statement from Tingnei Konyak, President and N Naowang Konyak, General Secretary. The KU also stated that it can produce the full text presented by the Chang and Konyak representatives along with ENPO meeting on January 17, 2006.
“Tobu issue to KU is not a big issue. It is just family issue itching both the tribes Konyaks and Changs. So we feel that if the intellectuals and philosophers of Konyaks and Changs can easily make the people understand and solve the problem amicably” the KU stated. It opined that irresponsible statements may provoke and “burst the situation”.
The KU cautioned that individuals or leaders must not make irresponsible statements in future regarding the issue and warned that they would be held solely responsible fro any outcome.
