Shilpgram Mahotsav in Guwahati from January 17

Dimapur, January 13 (MExN): The North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC) is organizing Shilpgram Mahotsav- 2018, a national level festival of arts on music, dance, theatre, food, craft, children activities marking its 12th Foundation Day at its complex at Panjabari, Guwahati from January 17 to 20.   The festival will present the cultural heritage of the North East. Apart from the zone, artists from other zones have been invited, informed a press release from NEZCC.   Children talent presentation, magical show, children painting & drawing workshop, vanishing art, folk dances & music, drama presentation, mime show presentation, classical dance by Sonal Mansing, and fusion songs & music by various popular artists from Assam will be main focus of the Mahotsav. With a free entry, the festival will be open to all from 11:00 am to 9:30 pm.   The major highlights of the festival include theatre presentation, magic show, mime show, children’s painting and drawing workshop, folk fusion music by various popular artists of Assam in addition  to choreographed folk dance presentation, classical dance, food & crafts mela etc.   Governor of Nagaland & Chairman, NEZCC Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya will grace the occasion as chief guest on January 17 at 5:30 pm. Dr. Birendra Nath Dutta, eminent author, scholar & artist and Dr. Mridul Hazarika, Vice-Chancellor of Gauhati University will grace the occasion as guests of honour.   The release informed that Shilpgram is a hub of cultural activities offering opportunities to varied performing artistes, crafts persons etc. “The Centre is making all out effort to ensure mass participation in the activities of the Shilpgram by involving NGOs, individuals working in the field of Art & Culture, schools, colleges and universities are also encouraged to associate themselves and contribute to the progress of Shilpgram through their innovative and creative ideas,” it added.
