Shilu Ao park takes shape

The project for developing the proposed P Shilu Ao park in Mokokchung is taking shape now, under the initiative of NPF Mokokchung Division. The NPF today announced that they have got the ‘concept’ of the park while declaring the winner of the landscape design competition, won by Rongsenkaba Longkumer of Mokokchung. Sixteen candidates submitted their designs. Describing how the park would be, NPF officials said that greenery and ecology will remain in the back of their mind while developing the park. “The park will not be congested and will be lined with ornamental trees,” said Tangit Imsong, convener of the landscape design committee. There will also be a multi-storied building with parking lot and restaurant, it was disclosed. Other features of the ‘dream park’ would also include terraced lawns, boulder beaching around the lake, recreation facilities, a bridge across the lake, footpath, drainage system, security fence and solar electrification.

Three young professionals have been roped in to prepared the Detailed Project Report of the Park, engineers Ato and Tekayanger and and architect Nungsangwati. NPF Mokokchung Division president Aolepden Longkumer expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister of Nagaland for assuring all out support for developing the park. He also hoped that the DPR will be done in time. He also informed that the Imkongmeren Sports Complex will not be obstructed by the new park.  The foundation stone of the park is expected to be laid during the Road Show Mokokchung, due to be held on July 31 and August 1, 2009.
