Shooting Competition begins in Dimapur

Dimapur/Kohima, August 23 (MExN): The Shooting Competition of the ongoing Nagaland Olympics & Paralympic Games Shooting Competition started on August 23 at Shooting Range, Multidisciplinary Sports Complex, Dimapur.

All together nine districts - Mon, Niuland, Zunheboto, Phek, Kohima, Dimapur, Chumoukedima, Wokha and Tseminyu are participating in the event.

Speaking at the opening ceremony as the special guest, Commissioner of Police Dimapur Rothihu Tetseo noted that the Olympics came into being during the period of war to bring peace and unity. 

Games bring unity and peace and symbolises the unity of athletes and sportspersons who gather from various corners of the State, he said. 

As per a DIPR report, he also exhorted the participants that with opportunity an individual having the capacity and determination can surely excel. 

Sports should be given importance, he added, and encouraged the participants to do their best and represent the State at the National and international level.

Tentative events on August 24-25 include  10m Rifle (Men &Women), 10m Pistol (Men & Women), Mixed Team Rifle, Mixed Team Pistol, 50m Rifle Prone (Men & Women). 

The competition will start each day at 9:30AM. 

Under the theme, “Stronger Together,” Nagaland Chief Minister of Nagaland & President of the Nagaland Olympic Association, Neiphiu Rio officially inaugurated the second edition of Nagaland Olympic and the first Nagaland Olympic and Paralympic Games 2022 at Kohima on August 22. 

The 2022 edition scheduled from August 22-27 are being held concurently across Nagaland including Kohima, Dimapur and Longleng.
