Dimapur, November 27 (MExN): The Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has directed all shops and business establishments under its jurisdiction to remain open on all Sundays with immediate effect until further orders. The directive has been issued in view of the upcoming festive season, particularly the Hornbill Festival and Christmas and New Year celebrations.
According to a press release issued by the Chief Executive Officer of the DMC, Thungchanbemo Tungoe, the measure aims to ensure uninterrupted availability of goods to the public during the festive period. The order is also intended to help meet heightened consumer demand, reduce crowding during peak shopping hours, and facilitate smooth commercial activity.
“All shops and business establishments under the jurisdiction of the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) are hereby informed to remain open on all Sundays with immediate effect until further order,” the notification stated. It added that the arrangement is being made “to meet the heightened public demand, ease crowding during peak shopping hours, and facilitate smooth commercial activity during the festive period.”
The DMC has instructed all concerned shopkeepers, market bodies, and commercial establishments to comply with the directive.
