Shortage of teachers at Khaghaboto govt high school

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 30 (MExN): The Khaghaboto Area Students’ Union (KASU) today issued an open letter to the Director of School Education shedding light on the lack of teachers at Khaghaboto Government High School. The KASU said that this school which caters to the educational needs of 17 villages under its jurisdiction has shortage of Math, Science and Hindi teachers.

The school has been left with only one Math teacher, who is due to retire by January, 2019. The other teacher (Under RMSA) was transferred to GHS, Chumukedima Village without any replacement.

Meanwhile there is no Science teacher in the school, after the sole teacher for the subject (under RMSA) qualified in the State Teacher Examination and was transferred to Thenyizu on September 25. It added that there is also only one Hindi language teacher in the school.

As such, the KASU asked the Director to provide two permanent teachers for each of the subjects mentioned and the deployment of a science teacher immediately.

Given that the final examination for Class 8 and 9 is scheduled on November 20 and 26 respectively, the union urged the concerned department to make immediate arrangements especially for the science teacher within 7 days from the date of this letter.

Failure to do so, the KASU said it would initiate boycott of the science exam.
