Should Dimapur district be exempted from the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition (NLTP) Act? Give Reasons

Yes, Dimapur is a unique case:

•    NLTP act should not be repealed statewide, but it should be lifted in Kohima and Dimapur because these are two main cities of Nagaland.

No, the law should be uniform across Nagaland:

•    Society is going in the direction even now but exemption from NLTP will be the worst nightmare. Better to shutdown all the mineral water shops selling alcohol. Law enforcement agencies should shut it down and the society called national workers too should act strictly, because alcohol is a curse to the Naga society like any other contrabands. Curse should be on anyone who sells it.

•    Let it remain as it is. People still get to consume but with restraints. There must be restraints to everything.

The entire Act should be repealed state-wide:

•    It is already banned but available. So what is the use of keeping it locked? OPEN IT.

•    Those who want it will get it any way. So what is the big issue? Making laws which cannot be enforced due to corruption in the police and state and politicians it does not work anyway. The NLTP Act has become a thing of the past, something irrelevant in the present context.

•    Boycott the Act. This is causing lots of expenditure to people who consume alcohol. Legalizing would help monitor the quality as well as the cost of alcohol. Say for example a man is buying a bottle of rum for 600, with the alcohol legalized it will cost around 200-300 saving a lots of money for him or his family. All this activities would also create income-generating activities for the state. Nagaland is already a low performing state.

•    The law should be uniform across Nagaland. If Dimapur is a part of Nagaland then thats it.

•    Those who drink want it lifted, whereas people who do not consume want it to remain as it is. There are only two groups.

•    What's the point of giving revenue to other states? Open the liquor shop properly instead of selling in the corner shop

•    It's high time that Nagas should understand . Give license to those who are willing to do business in our state.

•    The entire Act should be repealed state wide only when Naga people are civilized to drink the alcohol because at the moment all the crime committed and accidents in the state are under the influence of alcohol.

•    Whether you ban, all over Nagaland, liquor is available. Infact drug users are increasing, so it is better let the government of the day decide what is and will be better for the state, religion should not play in politics.

•    Why only Dimapur repeal the Act in its entirety. The Church is only concerned about alcohol. They do not care about other problems plaguing our state. Corruption and crime is at its highest, but it is only Alcohol that they're concerned about. It is not working Church Leaders. Swallow your egos, admit defeat and pray to the Lord for wisdom and guidance.
