Should the Dimapur Deputy Commissioner’s office be shifted to the new DC office complex in Chümoukedima? Give reasons why.

Some of those who voted Yes:

•    My answer is yes because once the office is shifted, there will be less traffic jam. We need good infrastructure to run the office. It is high time to change. Office is becoming old.

•    This was the original Idea.

•    There are many reasons to shift to Chümoukedima- one is that Chümoukedima is the official site for the DC office also no DC court should be within 20km of State border as per national guidelines. Also it is more central to the whole district, as Dimapur town is not only town in the district.

•    Convenient site.

•    Yes! For the convenience of everyone.

•    Dimapur city needs an expansion, when DC office is shifted to Chümoukedima then people will try to explore those areas and a new development era around that area will arise.

•    YES!!! Progress will come slowly not in a day and I see this as progress. Let's not make this a tribalism issue. Don't ignore the bigger picture here.

•    Yes. Why now? It's too late.

•    Yes all good facility and even we can park truck!!!

•    YES! Together We Can.

•    Yes, we need to be farsighted and welcome any new developments which are for common good. Judging everything from tribal lines is not helping us rather pulling us apart and down.

•    Yes! Need of the hour.

•    Yes. Its DC office. Not a tribal office.

•    Yes. Shift it fast.

•    Yes. For traffic congestion and spacious area.

•    Yes. This is for the betterment of everyone.

•    YES. Immediately!!! The State government had initiated construction of the new DC complex when Chümoukedima was established as the district headquarters of the newly-created Dimapur district by the then government in 1997. Chümoukedima served as the first headquarter of the then Naga Hills district during British rule. The place was chosen without any political influence or public demand for the construction. Regarding the distance; it is less than 20 KMs for the Dimapur city residents. It is above 30 KMs for the residents of Piphema, Rüzaphema, etc... Government should immediately start building new flyovers and bridges if they want to address the problem of traffic congestion and public inconvenience instead of shifting the DC's office citing the above reasons.

•    Yes if the government can provide easy and cheap transportation.

•    Yes. The present standing DC office is in dilapidated condition... unfit for district administration.

•    Yes for me because it is too late to say NO... but I say too much will also explode some day. Leaders should have a farsighted vision of all the impacts.

•    100% yes. It will benefit all irrespective of tribes.

•    Why not, yes go ahead with the shift. If they don’t want to shift, why constructed in the first place? There are something that we have to listen and some are not, because it's not valid. People who don't want to shift are actually selfish. My dear brothers and sisters of Nagas, let’s be civilized and broad-minded. Think for the greater people benefits, not just for few people only.

•    Yes, it will be better for development and we should keep Dimapur city for business purpose only because it is too packed already and Chümoukedima people should also agree if the public wants to change the name of the town so that no 'ism' comes in between.

•    It is yes. came to know of the word boycott, agitation, silent protest, lockdown, bandh, rally, strike is mostly happened in Nagaland every then and now. One must understand that “Democracy doesn't require perfect equality but it does require is that citizen share in a common life". What government does is best for its citizen. (This is personal point of view)

•    Yes, look at it through a clear n logical perspective instead of looking at it through a veil of “ism”

•    I don’t think government taking any decision blindly. They know what s good for public n they are doing this for the benefit for public only, so I am with the government decision. No hurt feelings for those who are against.

Some of those who voted No:

•    Dimapur belongs to all tribes. Shifting to Chümoukedima means we have to take permission of one particular tribe to even breathe.

•    It's really inconvenient for people who do not own a personal vehicle. Spending around minimum 500 for a signature is really bizarre for us.

•    As it has been situated in Dimapur since time immemorial, why the sudden need to shift it. From before it has been convenient for everyone, why they had to build a new building somewhere else, instead the concern could have carried on a renovation or building of new extension in the old area could have avoided all the chaos, just my opinion.

•    It is better to be in town area not in village.

•    NO, recently some CSOs imposed a ban in Dimapur for shifting of DC office but some of the areas/colony/parts did not support, it is clear that they are not a part of Dimapur. So there is no question of shifting Dimapur DC office to some other place.

•    Not suitable to the urban dwellers.

•    Because people will face difficulties to communicate, as it's far away from Dimapur main town.

•    Old is gold... Old should be renovated if it is old but not to be shift, it will be like harassment to the public.

•    Because the old office is in the heart of the city and is more populated area.

•    The answer is simple. The Dimapur Deputy Commissioner's office cannot be in another town.

•    It's beneficial for some villages far from town.

•    As there no objection to the present location. And to have peaceful co existence

•    Shifting the DC Office will cause inconveniences to the general mass.

•    Not suitable, should be in urban area as it is, should not disturb civic unity.

•    In the whole Nagaland, Dimapur district alone has a revenue area- Mouza 1, 2, 3. So, the DC is also the District Collector, and the collector should be in the revenue area. Nagaland is infected by a virus called ‘Jurisdiction.’ The present location is under nobody's jurisdiction, so free from the virus.

•    General public will never oppose for good.

•    The present location of DC office is nearby to lakh of people in Dimapur. If the complex is shifted to Chümoukedima, lakh of people will have to spend Rs. 400 to 500 per head. On the other hand, transportation fare is much higher than other cities and City bus transportation is not here which is cheaper. Why do Government ignore the interest of majority who are in lakh?

•    Remain as it is.

•    Firstly it's too far from Dimapur town and official works would be greatly hamper, many poor and middle class citizens will have to hire someone to do their work when they hardly have the means to travel to Chümoukedima problem compounded. Secondly Chümoukedima being far from municipal control and dominance of a single tribe will complicate even officiating and administering when situation as such arises. Thirdly all administrators will have a hard time in meeting all needs when they have to spend a good amount of time traveling to the office and return.

•    90% of common people living in present urban areas will face very hardship in day today life.

•    The location is far from the problem. The issue is with the monopoly of power.

•    Why suddenly they want to shift this complex to Chümoukedima? Plus Dimapur is the main centre of work. Shifting it there will cause more havoc complexity. And also I've heard a lot of stories about Chümoukedima in many complicated issues. The youths and the organisation is not organised over there

•    It is not convenient.

•    Chümoukedima don't even function even under Dimapur jurisdiction, and why they want to shift it, instead of asking new DC office.

•    No!!! Because not every citizen owns a car and travelling to Chümoukedima for every small work is not an easy job for all. Moreover Dimapur is a commercial hub and no ownership but we all know about what just happened recently in Chümoukedima -‘breathing Angami Air’ thing!!! So chances are there that it might happen in future also.

•    No, development doesn't go along with DC office alone. Chümoukedima can have SDO or ADC office and every administrative chain can function in tandem. The idea of Shifting itself was mooted purely on ism and its decision is found suppressive.

•    As clearly stated “Government is for the people but if the government fail to hear the voice of the common people, that become a baseless propaganda” For the convenience of the majority better not to.

•    Why should only one tribe grow in Nagaland???

•    Big No, reason: tribalism issues. And inhuman happened there too. #2 Chümoukedima is village and not Dimapur city. We the rest tribes all agree Dc should be shifted to Wokha instead Chümoukedima.

•    I don’t think it’s a good idea to shift it to Chümoukedima as we all know how most of the people residing there are. Who knows what will happen if we shift it there? Remember last time air incident.

•    Air is sort of privatized over there so it will be too expensive.

•    No... It's not good idea to shift Dimapur to Chümoukedima, Chümoukedima already have SDO if I'm not mistaken... In addition last incident shows their real color, remember? How they have beaten up Eastern people black & blue. And I don't like tribalism.

•    "Benefit only for one tribe" don't want to bring "ISM" but location and government decision is itself “ISM”.

•    No. If they want to shift to Chümoukedima go by the book and upgrade to ADC from EAC. Legally can’t give from EAC to DC.

•    No. Because there will be untold hardship to the Dimapur citizens.

•    I totally object these decisions since there were objections from before the establishment of new dc complex. Why land are allotted only to Chümoukedima when there is enough plots from Dimapur3 till Ghaspani 1. It’s unfit for shifting offices other then ADC/SDo/EAC since Chümoukedima is not a municipal area. Every Naga should condemn it. Establishment of district head office should be somewhere accessible when there is need of it as it’s a general fact.

•    The last incident regarding the so called "Chümoukedima air" is a tough thing to ignore....That incident itself gives us all a uncomfortable feeling.

•    When we actually consider the merits of shifting and ignore the voices of tribalism, it is a yes. Some perks of shifting: 1. Better Infrastructure (facilities & parking); 2. Better Reach (considering the various villages under Dimapur district); 3. Upgradation of existing office for other more fitting purpose; 4. The project has been sanctioned and completed as per the requirement of a DC office; 5. Convenient for more people: the close national highway connection; 6. Public opinions for any government project are pre-determined. The administration concerned must’ve invited opinions before the sanctioning of the project; 7. Making the most of completed projects (it is among the few that has been completed).

•    Agitating parties as well as those who are supporting have their own views and rights. But there is nothing we can do. It all depends on how much amount of money or which position is offered in a political party to the agitating leaders. Money will shut down everything. Greed is more dangerous than tribalism in Nagaland. We the youth have to be the change. Let's choose our leaders wisely, be it political or social leaders.

•    We first need to build a well designed over bridge at 7th mile gate to facilitate a free flow of traffic.

•    Are they (public n its leaders) not aware of it when the construction of the new DC office is going on or allotted the land for shifting? Why are they/we silent all these years if we are against it n only complaint now when it is going to be shifted? The public leaders are doing it for their own self interest with the government, and the people who will get nothing in return just follow them blindly without any second thought.

•    Any decision of the government should first consult with the general public that is to say cooperation and coordination need to take place to progress the state.

•    Why can't the government recognize Chümoukedima as another district instead of making such commotion?

•    Big No. No. Chümoukedima has its own sub-division so our state government should upgrade it to Full flagged ADC or DC whatever. But Dimapur is District, how can a District downgrade to sub-division and sub-division to District. This kind of political power is creating Ism, hatred among our Nagas.

Some of those who voted Others:

•    Why we Nagas didn't think of it before the DC office construction?? Why only now??? Too late!

•    It is too late to question and too late to get the answer!

•    100% it's already constructed. Were they sleeping while the project is starting? So frustrating to see the drama.
