Dimapur, June 4 (MExN): The Directorate of School Education today issued show-cause notices to 376 bogus teachers and 444 absentee teachers appointed with effect from January 2002 to March 2009. In a public notice issued by Mhathung Kithan IAS Ex-Officio Director, School Education, the show-cause notices to the teachers asked as to why their services should not be cancelled/terminated. The listed teachers have been directed to reply to the show-cause notices within 30 days of this notice, failing which decision will be taken ex-parte. All the teachers in concern are also informed to collect the show-cause notices from their respective establishments i.e. DEOs/DISs.
In the verification remarks given against the names of the teachers listed under the ‘bogus’ category, most cases related to forgery of signature. In one case, one of the listed persons paid Rs one lakh to purchase the appointment order. In another case, one of the teachers was appointed on compassionate ground but without clearance from the P&AR department.
Some even had fake post-creation orders while another paid Rs one lakh to a particular SIS. In one peculiar case, the post-creation under which a teacher was appointed was meant for Tuensang/Mon district and not Mokokchung district. It also came to light that several other posts meant for Mon/Tuensang were diverted to other places. One person was found to have been appointed on compassionate grounds but was not in any way related to the deceased. Making an interesting read, one of the so-stated ‘bogus’ teachers even produced a fake PU NEHU educational certificate. One teacher even had his age tampered while another was appointed even without the necessary supporting documents.
In the list of ‘absentee’ teachers, all the 444 listed were found absent during the SIT (Vigilance & Anti-Corruption) verification during the year 2009 and again by the Special Verification Committee (SVC) in April 2010.
