KOHIMA, FEB 8 (DIPR): Minister for Planning and Development Dr. Shürhozelie sought better coordination between the government and servicing banks for successful implementation of schemes assisted under Chief Minister’s Corpus Fund. He was addressing members of the District Corpus Fund Committee, including Kohima Deputy Commissioner R. Ramakrishnan and officials of various financing banks at a meeting in his Secretariat Office chamber today.
Dr. Shürhozelie said that the main aim of the programme is to ensure sustainable income to unemployed youth of the state through generation of self-employment opportunities. He stressed on the need to make the programme a success through better coordination between the concerned departments and banks. He said that candidates must have proper knowledge about their specific projects as this will help in successfully implementing their schemes.
Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, R. Ramakrishnan urged the bank officials to have regular contact with the District Administration and the office of the District Planning Officer and also assured all cooperation with the banks to make the programmes successful.
Bank officials expressed some of the difficulties faced during financing of the schemes such as lack of proper knowledge about the schemes, lack of insurance for livestock in schemes such as piggery and besides recovery of loans in certain cases. It might be mentioned that the schemes were implemented at the districts level from 2004-05 and under Kohima district 50 candidates were recommended to avail the scheme.
