Dimapur, May 22 (MExN): Nagaland Home Minister Imkong Imchen’s lawyer today called the response of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) SI Jamir to the minister’s ‘notice’ as “knowingly crazy.” If Jamir repeats such statements, he will face action “in applicable court of law…and permitted by traditional custom and usage, simultaneously with civil and penal proceedings,” the response stated.
The minister’s lawyer, Moayanger Imchen issued a statement today demanding that Jamir respond to the ‘same points.’ “We are utterly disgusted to see the irrational, unreasonable, unwarranted and out of context rejoinder/ statement made by SI Jamir in some local dailies on our notice. His (SI Jamir’s) response (to quote) ‘that at this juncture without going into the cracks of the issue, answering to the notice is not warranted’, is simply an act of timidity and cowardly retreat.”
The Home Minister’s legal aid clarified that “we did not serve any legal notice but sought specific clarification from him for his shocking, deplorable and highly personal remark.” The statement said – “Our notice to SI Jamir was not a legal notice but a notice in general parlance categorically seeking clarification, as his (SI Jamir) remark against the individual of Imkong L Imchen was found to be illusory, ambiguous and obscure on our prudent and meticulous scrutiny.
Further, his (SI Jamir) remark has intended to put sigma as he (SI Jamir) has maliciously questioned the bloodline of Imkong L Imchen in national service during turbulent times without any tenable and justiciable basis. Hence, we have sought specific clarification/explanation from him (SI Jamir).”
The lawyer said SI Jamir failing to “give/furnish any concrete, sensible and reasonable explanation on the specific points sought from him” is “very amusing.” “We once again reiterate on the same points and call upon SI Jamir to refrain himself from making such knowingly crazy, absurd, callous and capricious statement/ remark against the individual of Imkong L Imchen. His (SI Jamir’s) statement / remark in some dailies on 15-5-11 was prima facie intrusion in personal domain with diabolic design.”
The lawyer also warned SI Jamir that repeating such or similar will invite appropriate course of action in applicable court of law as required and permitted by traditional custom and usage, simultaneously with civil and penal proceedings/consequences in his (SI Jamir’s) own risk and cost without further intimation reference or notice.”
