‘Signature Campaign’ on ending violence against women

Dimapur, November 26 (MExN): Sakhi- One Stop Centre (OSC) organized a ‘signature campaign’, to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on November 25 at the Super Market Complex in Dimapur.    

The participants included passersby, students, auto drivers, some tourist, shoppers and shopkeepers etc who penned their signatures and pledged their support in eliminating violence against women. The main objective of the campaign was to generate awareness to the general public about the crucial issue of violence against women and the services provided by the OSC.       

A press release informed that Sakhi- OSC, an initiative of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, GoI caters to women affected by violence in private and public places by providing integrated services like Medical Aid, Police Assistance, Legal Aid and Psycho-Social services under one roof. It is integrated with Women helpline (181- Toll free number).  

It may be mentioned that the first OSC was officially launched in June 2016 which is located at the District Hospital premises Dimapur. The second OSC was introduced at Kohima on November 25. The State Resource Centre for Women under the Department of Social Welfare is the nodal agency to implement the scheme.
