Kohima, January 25 (MExN): In commemoration of National Girl Child Week, a signature campaign for Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) was organised at the Secretariat Office and Kohima College on January 23.
The campaign was organised by State Resource Centre for Women-Mahila Shakti Kendra Kohima, Women Helpline 181 under Nagaland State Social Welfare Board with the theme, ”Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Champions.”
Official signatories for supporting the cause of the Girl Child included Niekiesalie Kire Advisor for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Temjen Toy, Chief Secretary of Nagaland, Commissioner and Secretary Social Welfare Department, Principal Secretary Power and Information Technology and Communication & Urban Development, Special Secretary Home, Home Commissioner etc.
To fulfil the objectives of BBBP and to spread awareness, the signature campaign was carried in order to highlight and address the needs and challenges girls face, while promoting girls’ empowerment.
