‘Silence’ over murder raises questions

DIMAPUR, JUNE 14 (MExN): A murder of a youth in the capital recently has sparked questions on the ‘silence’ of the administration in pursuing a course of action and doubts have also been raised on “whether a case has been registered in this connection.”

The Kohima Longkhum Senso Telongjem, bringing to light the murder of Sutsungtemsu at Bayavü Colony, Kohima on the evening of June 12, has called upon the authorities to take action by bringing the perpetrator, a gunman, to book at the earliest.

Sutsungtemsu was reportedly shot dead by an unidentified assailant armed with a pistol while he and a cousin were at a “joint.” When the first bullet hit his leg, the deceased reportedly said, “Why are you shooting without any reason and proper identification?” Despite his pleading, four more bullets were pumped into his body.

Sutsungtemsu had served as general secretary at Alichen Longkhum Students Union, Mokokchung, studied till BA, and was undergoing a diploma course at Micro World Computer Training Centre at Kohima.
