Dimapur, September 20 (MExN): Draft electoral rolls for 12 Assembly constituencies (ACs) in Wokha, Chümoukedima and Kohima districts were published on Sunday as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Photo Electoral Rolls, 2026.
In Wokha district, the draft publication was held at the Deputy Commissioner's Conference Hall. Assistant Election Officer Kulo Khromi chaired the meeting and presented details of the SIR exercise undertaken in the district.
Prior to the SIR, the electorate figures were 25,932 in 37th Tyui AC, 30,796 in 38th Wokha AC, 24,372 in 39th Sanis AC and 27,718 in 40th Bhandari AC.
The enumeration phase was conducted from August 16 to September 14. A total of 1,08,818 Enumeration Forms (EFs) were printed and distributed, of which 1,02,271 were received back and digitised by Booth Level Officers (BLOs).
The exercise resulted in a net deletion of 6 per cent, involving 6,547 electors whose forms were not returned. The deletions comprised 1,928 deaths, 928 untraceable or absent electors, 3,333 permanently shifted electors, 273 duplicate entries and 85 cases categorised as others.
Polling station rationalisation was also undertaken to improve voter accessibility. Three new polling stations were created in constituencies where the voter strength exceeded 1,200. These are Koio II and Tsungiki IV under 37th Tyui AC and Yimpang II under 40th Bhandari AC.
The draft roll published on September 20 records 24,840 electors in 37th Tyui AC, 28,252 in 38th Wokha AC, 23,426 in 39th Sanis AC and 25,753 in 40th Bhandari AC, taking the total electorate to 1,02,271.
The period for filing claims and objections is from September 20 to October 20. The notice phase for disposal will run from September 20 to November 18, during which electors served notices will have to produce prescribed documents to establish their inclusion in the final roll. A total of 50,040 electors are expected to undergo notice and hearing during this phase.
The final publication of the Electoral Roll with October 1, 2026 as the qualifying date is scheduled for November 22.
In Chümoukedima district, draft electoral rolls for 4-Ghaspani-I and 5-Ghaspani-II ACs were also published on Sunday in connection with the SIR.
According to a notice issued by the Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Chümoukedima, the draft rolls have been prepared with October 1, 2026 as the qualifying date and are available for inspection at the offices of the respective Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and at polling stations during office hours.
The notice for 4-Ghaspani-I was issued by T Lemlila Sangtam, NCS, Electoral Registration Officer, while that for 5-Ghaspani-II was issued by P James Swu, NCS, Electoral Registration Officer.
Claims for inclusion of names, objections to inclusion of names or objections to particulars in the draft roll can be filed on or before October 20 in the prescribed Form 6, Form 7 or Form 8, as applicable.
The list of claims and objections will be made available on the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Nagaland website and displayed on the notice boards of the respective ERO offices on working days.
In Kohima district, draft electoral rolls for 8-Western Angami, 9-Kohima Town, 10-Northern Angami-I, 11-Northern Angami-II, 14-Southern Angami-I and 15-Southern Angami-II ACs have been published with October 1, 2026 as the qualifying date.
The rolls are available for viewing and inspection at the offices of the respective EROs and with BLOs.
According to a release issued by Kohima Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer B Henok Buchem, claims for inclusion of names or objections to inclusion of names or particulars in any entry in the draft roll may be lodged on or before October 20 in Form 6 with Annexure IV (Declaration Form), Form 7 or Form 8, as appropriate.
The list of claims and objections will be made available on the CEO, Nagaland website and exhibited on the notice boards of the EROs and Election Branch on all working days.
The final electoral roll for the state is scheduled to be published in November.
