Kohima, July 10 (DIPR): Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has said that the ongoing investigation in the School Education department with regard to bogus teachers may take some more time. Stating that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the State Vigilance Commission was constituted on February 7, 2004 with a time frame of four months, the Chief Minister said that as the SIT is looking into the period from 2001 to 2009, it may take more time for the SIT to submit its report. This was stated in reply to a question raised by Leader of Opposition, Chingwang Konyak and MLA, Sentichuba at the fourth Assembly session today.
On being asked whether it is a fact that 2000 bogus teachers have been appointed under the School Education, Minister for School Education Nyeiwang Konyak said that the matter relating to appointment of bogus teachers is under investigation by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the State Vigilance Commission, and as such it is not possible to give any factual statement on the number of bogus teachers that may have been appointed. The Minister also stated that the SIT has also been assigned with the duty to determine whether appointment has been issued from the Directorate of School Education and factual information will be obtained only after the investigation by the SIT is completed. He also said that the matter of action against erring officials will arise only after the investigation by the SIT is completed.
