TIZIT, DECEMBER 10 (MExN): The 5th edition of Tizit Day-Night Volleyball Tournament organised by Naoshelim at GMS Ground, Lapa Lampong Tizit Mon district, concluded on December 9 with Sivasagar Warriors clinching the championship title.
The tournament featured eight teams and was held to raise funds for charity, supporting individuals affected by drug and substance abuse, rehabilitation needs, illness, fire incidents, and natural disasters, stated a press release from the club.
Sivasagar Warriors defeated Radical Hornbill in a four-set final to secure the top place. The Warriors won the first set 25–21, while Radical Hornbill levelled the match by taking the second set 28–26.
Sivasagar Warriors regained control in the remaining sets, winning 25–17 and 25–15 to lift the trophy and claim the winner’s prize of Rs 50,000. Radical Hornbill settled for the runner-up title along with a cash award of Rs 25,000.
Earlier in the semi-finals, Radical Hornbill beat One Team One Dream 25–16 and 25–23, while Sivasagar Warriors overcame Eagle Elites 25–14 and 25–18 to book their place in the final.
Individual awards were also presented at the event. Wonglon of Sivasagar Warriors received the Best Spiker award, while Toshienba of Radical Hornbill was named Best Setter. Eagle Elites was declared the Best Disciplined Team.
The opening ceremony was attended by B. Tingnon Konyak, PS to the Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Nagaland, as the Special Guest, with Captain Shubham Vyas of 42 Assam Rifles serving as Guest of Honour for the closing ceremony on second day.
In his address, Vyas praised Naoshelim for its continued efforts in combating drug abuse and encouraged youth to refrain from such habits. He also announced a donation of a table tennis board to Naoshelim and a water tank for Lapa Lampong.
