Six arrested for extortion in Dmp

Dimapur, April 19 (MExN): The Dimapur Police today informed that all together 6 persons have been arrested for various charges of extortion in the city during the last fortnight.   The Addl. Dy Commissioner of Police/PRO, Dimapur in a press note said that the first arrest was made when two persons were arrested while robbing passengers of an Autorickshaw at the late hours of April 5 near the Sewak Gate area, Dimapur.   The police identified them as Tiakaba Jamir of Changki Village and Sanjeev Rai, both presently residing in MST Colony, Dimapur.   On April 11, the Anti Extortion Team (AET) under Zone-I also arrested two persons from Murgipatti area, Dimapur while they were extorting money from business houses, it said.   The arrested persons were identified as ThsaroseSangtam Yangzitong Village, Kiphire and presently a resident of Chekiyevillage, Dimapur and Hito Chishi of Litami Village, Zunheboto and presently residing in Purana Bazaar.   “Incriminating documents in the form of demand slips of the NSCN(R), money in cash, etc., were seized from their possessions,” it added.   The thirds arrest was made in April 18 when the the Anti Extortion Team (AET) under Zone-II arrested two persons from PWD area, Dimapur after they were found extorting money.   The arrested persons were identified as one Naratho Pochury of Meluri Village and residing in Thilixu Village and Hezekiya Awomi of Homeland Village, Dimapur and presently a resident of Burma Camp.   According to the police, the former is reportedly a Major of the GDRN/NNC (NA) while the latter is reportedly a Captain of the GDRN/NNC (NA).   Meanwhile, the Dimapur Police, on April 17, raided a house located at Valley View Colony, Dimapur and seized approximately 225 cases of illegal assorted IMFL and arrested one VikaYepthomi of Litami Village, currently a resident of 4th Mile, Dimapur. In this connection, necessary investigations are underway.
