Six teams vying for 9th Open Naknyulüm Volleyball trophy

The three-day 9th Open Naknyulüm Volleyball Tournament Chaolu Sector (Chaba School) organized by The Gigglers got underway at Chaolu Sector Volley Court in Tuensang. It will conclude on July 30.

Six teams including the Unified Friends Club, Eastern Tornado, Jail Colony, Tuensang, Young Sparky, Cousins United and Nyaklangbou Sector Youth Fellowship are vying for the championship. The winner will walk away with a cash prize of Rs 10,000 along with certificate and the runners-up will get Rs 5000 along with certificates. 

The best setter, best spiker and the player of the tournament will each receive a trophy and a certificate. 

The event was graced by I Bunglang Chang, NPS, Deputy Superintendent of Police (R), Tuensang as the special guest. 

Bunglang in his speech expressed joy to see the players gathered to participate in sports rather than indulging in other bad habits. He encouraged to stay away from substance abuse highlighting that the usage of drug-related substance among the youths in the town in rampant.

“This outburst of drug usage will create generational curse and will lead to many crimes including domestic problems too. This will destroy our society,” he stated.

He also made aware of the cyber-crimes existent in the district and urged not to be victims of it nor perpetrators of it.
The opening ceremony programme was chaired by Asen, Youth President, Chaolu Sector Youth Fellowship while invocation was said by P Ebou Lomchu.

Welcome address was delivered by P S Choba, Advisor, The Gigglers and a short speech was also delivered by Chabou, Vice President, Chaolu Sector Chaba School.

The final will be played on July 30 in Chaolu Sector Volley Court in Tuensang.
