CHÜMOUKEDIMA, OCTOBER 27 (MExN): St Joseph University (SJU) in Chümoukedima hosted the 2nd International Conference on Multidisciplinary Research and Innovation (ICMR) on October 24 and 25. Organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), the conference focused on the theme "Trends and Innovation in Academia," bringing together a diverse group of scholars and experts from various fields.

A press release issued by SJU stated that the inaugural session kicked off on October 24 at the SJU auditorium, featuring a cultural performance by students from the Department of Economics, who welcomed attendees with a traditional Sumi Naga folk song. The session was chaired by Dr Imkumnaro Walling, Assistant Professor in the Department of Education. Rev Sr Thianes Mary DMI, Deputy Registrar of SJU, led an invocation seeking blessings for the event.

Dr Imkongsenla Longchar, Director of IQAC, extended a warm welcome to all participants, while Dr D. Gnanadurai, Vice-Chancellor of SJU, presented tokens of appreciation to the guest speakers. A video presentation showcased the university’s background, achievements, and commitment to academic excellence.

Dr Alemmenla Walling, Assistant Professor in the Department of English at SJU, introduced the conference, reflecting on the success of the inaugural ICMR held in November 2023, which attracted over 300 researchers and academics from across India. She emphasized the importance of fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange in academia.

The first day featured notable sessions, including an online presentation by Dr Subramanian Sasikumar from the School of Material Science and Engineering at Hunan University, China, on "Advanced Piezoceramics for Novel Apaplications." Additionally, Dr Sanjoy Das from Nagaland University discussed "Agro Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Development."

The second day of the conference, October 25, included keynote addresses from Dr. Shad Ahmed Khan of the University of Buraimi College of Business in Oman, who spoke on "Personal Wealth Management," and Dr Kotra Balayogi, Vice Principal of Unity College of Teachers Education, who addressed the "National Curriculum Framework for Foundation Stage: Challenges in Implementation and Practice for Students, Teachers, and Stakeholders."

The valedictory session concluded the conference with remarks from Prof A. Elayaperumal, Director of the National Institute of Technology, Nagaland, highlighting the significance of multidisciplinary research in contemporary academia.

This year’s conference featured ten parallel technical sessions, showcasing 101 paper and poster presentations from 225 authors and co-authors, both online and offline. The event fostered meaningful discussions and collaborations, reinforcing SJU’s commitment to academic excellence and innovation.
