Dimapur, April 20 (MExN): With the objective of sharpening the literary skills of the students, the Department of English, St Joseph University, Chümoukedima has started an “Interactions Series” with literary personalities.
The first interactive session was chaired by Naga author Dr Easterine Kire on April 18, at the University Auditorium.
As per a SJU release, Dr Kire spoke on constructive identities, stereotyping and marginalisation of the North-East community.
She also requested to the student community not to believe the existing stereotypes of the Naga people and not to feed the same stereotypes by acting the same.
Sharing how people outside the region make the mistake of presuming Naga Literature as homogenous writing on the same theme of political unrest, she noted that everyone has a great role to play to change the existing perception.
Dr Kire also asserted her firm belief that any conflict can be resolved through peace and also threw some light on her upcoming new novel “The Spirit Nights,” the release said.
The lecture was followed by active interaction with the students, teachers and research scholars.
