The Artang Baptist Church (ABC) Mokokchung, on July 9, organised a skill-based workshop as a part of the ongoing12th ABC Youth Conference under the theme, “Protected in Him.” Around 150 youth participated in the workshop.
The workshop was held with the aim to educate the youth on various topics with hands-on training and to better equip the youth with local/home skills which would help open up future prospects for young business enthusiasts.
Among others, the topics covered were ‘Eri Culture and its Prospects’ by Ngangshimeyu, District Sericulture Officer; ‘Muga-Culture and Various Avenues in Sericulture’ by Immonger Pongen, Asst Sericulture Officer; and ‘Fungiculture’ by Recha Imchen, Horticulture Inspector, District Horticulture Office, Mokokchung.
Meanwhile, Tekasangla Ozukum, Horticulture Extension Assistant shared and gave hands-on demonstration on flower grafting while Asangla, a self-taught home baker and gardener, taught the participants the art of baking and custard making. The participants also learnt about jam and pickle making from Dr Imchalemla, Sub-Divisional Horticulture Office.
The 12th ABC Youth Conference began on July 8 and will conclude on 10 July.
