The Department of Cooperative Kiphire organized under RKVY organized a one day programme on skill development and enterprise at the Hopongkyu hall with L. Vishiyi Chishi Assistant Soil Chemist as resource person.
Speaking on maize cultivation and important insect’s pest and their control, L. Vishiyi Chishi said that using of chemicals or pesticide in our field should be avoided, instead we should use locally available medicinal plants which are easily available in the jungle. He also taught the participant to prepare various types of pesticide and insecticide using locally available plants.
Speaking on the measures to control the pests from the field, the resource person said that we should know how to make pesticide and insecticide by using locally available material. He also said that plants like local neem when crushed and mix with detergent and kept overnight can use as pesticide.
He also said that in maize field, mix cropping can be done where maize can be cultivated with groundnut, soya beans, kholar etc and added that by taking up crops like this can help our economy to a great extend. He also spoke on the importance of soil and the type of crops grown in different soil the resource person asked the participants to take care of soil by constructing contour bund and half moon terraces to save the top soil from erosion.
S. Kakuto Chophy SICS sharing on the objective of the training stress on the mobilization and objective of the RKVY. He also said that the pattern of the funding is 1000 % central and RKVY will help n increase of 4% in agriculture. Tinglichem LDA proposed vote of thanks.
