A total of 16 trainees registered for the six-day STRY programme which began on March 15 at KVK Tuensang.

Tuensang, March 17 (MExN): A six-day Skill Training of Rural Youth (STRY) programme began on March 15 at the KVK, Tuensang. The main objective of the programme is to offer modular skill training opportunities to rural youths including farmers on local needs and create a pool of skilled manpower to perform farm and non-farm operations, informed a press release on Friday.

Altogether, 16 trainees registered for the course on the topic ‘goat rearing and management.’ The programme is a collaboration between the office of the Senior Scientist and Head KVK, Tuensang under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare; the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management, Hyderabad; and State Agricultural Management and Training  Institute, Nagaland.

Dr Temjennungsang, Course Director said that the programme was aimed to impart skill–based training on agri-based vocational areas in compliance with National Policy of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship. The inaugural programme was chaired by Sangmaichila, Course Co-ordinator and the vote of thanks was proposed by Yanger I Kichu, Farm Manager, it said.
