PEREN, JUNE 16 (MExN): Deputy Commissioner Peren, Vineet Kumar inaugurated the two-day skill training programme on packaging for export of food, handloom and handicraft products of Nagaland at SBI-RSETI, Peren on June 14.
The skill training is being organized by the District Administration, Peren in partnership with ATMA Peren and India Institute of Packaging, Kolkata, a DIPR report stated.
The DC in his address, said packaging is an important part of a product as it enhances its aesthetic value when sold in the market. Kumar also urged the participants to take the maximum advantage out of the training period and apply the acquired knowledge and skills to enhance the value of their products.
Deputy Director, ATMA Cell, Department of Agriculture, Nagaland, Rosemary in her short speech expressed gratitude to DC, Peren under whose initiative the training programme is being held. Encouraging the participants to avail the opportunity which has been provided at the doorstep, she expressed optimism that the training programme would be highly beneficial for all the participants.
During the technical session, Dr Bidhan Das, Deputy Director & Regional Head Indian Institute of Packaging, Kolkata Centre, briefed the participants on the basic concepts and principles of packaging, packaging nomenclature, classification, positioning, cushioning, closures and ancillary packaging materials. Dr Asitava Sur - Guest Faculty, Indian Institute of Packaging, Kolkata Centre imparted training on the topics - Food Safety Act and FSSAI guidelines for food, Handloom & Handicraft Products of Nagaland.
Around 30 participants attended the first day of the training programme. The inaugural programme was chaired by EAC Peren, Seyiekhrietuo Solo, while brief overview of the training was delivered by Dr Bidhan Das, IIP, Kolkata and vote of thanks was proposed by DFO & PD ATMA Peren, Dory Yanthan. The DC also released the annual magazine of SBI Rural Self Employment Training Institute Peren District.
