Participants during the skilled training for rural youths held from January 29 to February 2.

Peren, February 2 (MExN): KVK Peren, ICAR-RC for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, Jalukie organised five-day skilled training for rural youths on ‘scientific poultry production and management’ from January 29 to February 2.
Chairing the inaugural programme, Dr L Babita Devi, CTO (Animal Science) & Course Coordinator highlighted the details of the programme. Dr KL Meena, PS & Head, KVK Peren gave the welcome address and encouraged the youths to take up poultry farming for income generation.
During the training, 14 theory sessions and two practical sessions covering all the aspects of scientific poultry rearing and management, entrepreneurship development in poultry farming, housing & feeding management, care and management of brooder chicks, broiler, layers, health care and disease managements, poultry waste management and poultry cum fish Integrated farming was delivered by experts from KVK Peren and CVSc, CAU Jalukie.
One day practical visit to Poultry unit at CVSc, CAU Jalukie was also arranged.
The training was attended by 20 rural youths from 7 villages of Peren district namely, New Jalukie, Jalukie Town, Old Tesen, Heningkunglwa, Mhainamtsi, New Peren, and Nkwareu.
During valedictory session, feedback from farmers was taken. Certificates and Poultry feeder and Waterer along with veterinary medicines like mineral mixture and vitamin were also distributed to the participants, stated a press release issued by KVK Peren.
