SKK, AKM appeal for reconciliation of NPGs

Tell Centre to keep Delimitation on hold

Zunheboto, September 22 (MExN): The All Sumi Student’s Union (SKK) and Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) have appealed to the NSCN (IM) and the seven Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) to reconcile “in the interest of Nagas in general and for the younger generation in particular.”

They also urged the Government of India (GoI) “to genuinely assimilate the desired opinion of the general Naga public for attainment of lasting peace…”

In a consultative meeting held between the two student bodies on September 21 at the SKK Hiyam in Zunheboto, issues confronting the Naga society were reportedly discussed.

A ‘serious and sincere’ discussion was held about “the on-going Naga political issue between the Naga negotiator and the Government of India (GoI) for an honorable, acceptable and an inclusive solution,” a press statement appended by the two Unions’ Presidents said.

They expressed sadness at the Naga National workers  and the Naga civil societies ‘deeply engaged’ in differences in many fronts, adding that it affects the ‘main objective’ of achieving a permanent solution.

In this regard, the SKK and the AKM appealed to the NSCN (IM) and the 7 NNPGs “to pave a way out and come forward for reconciliation…”

Further, the two bodies were also of the view that the process of Delimitation initiated by the GoI at this juncture is a “wrong step.”

They maintained that implementation of Delimitation would have a severe impact on Naga Solution.

As such, the SKK and AKM made their stand clear that the GoI should keep Delimitation on hold and settle the Naga political issue first.
