
Zunheboto, April 12 (MExN): All Sumi Students Union (SKK) campaign ‘Amikucho Kikishe’ (Clean Election) under Mission Achipiu Mlahnni started on a positive note with mass participation of more than 5000 people at Centre Point, Zunheboto, Chaired by Kitoho S. Rotokha, former SKK President.
The programme started with prayers from Rev. Dr. Joshua Rochill, E.S. SBAK (Aizuto), followed by Mission Statement by Ninoto Awomi, President SKK. Sumi Hoho, Sumi Kukami Hohi, Sumi Totimi Hoho and Joel from ACAUT also spoke during the programme and gave a clarion call to the people to join hands with SKK and clean election campaign team to bring change in the society.
KK Sema from ACAUT, Rev. Kughato Chophy from NBCC, and Hekani Jakhalu, YouthNet were the main speakers of the day.
Hekani Jakhalu said in 2013 election Zunheboto expensed 166 Crores in seven constituencies within a period of 2 months. These results are directly shown by the quality of development work. She said as per information received through RTI, in the last five years, Zunheboto town received more than 6 crores for road maintenance within the town.
K.K. Sema said the ill effects of wrong election system are responsible for wrong governance. The trust put upon the people through Communitization is abused by keeping proxies through political patronage. He said come election, God is locked away in the closet and challenged the gathering to overcome the same.
Rev. Dr. Joshua Rochill in his address challenged the gathering to be upright and righteous in the sight of God. He challenged the churches to withstand the negative forces during the times of election with biblical references.
The newly selected Sumi Hoho, President, Hekhushe Shikhu announced that Sumi Hoho is all out in support of SKK’s campaign for clean election and promised to sensitize all its members and constituent bodies. The statement of Sumi Hoho was also reiterated by Sumi Kukami Hoho with an assurance that the Sumi Kukami Hoho will work towards impacting change in the forthcoming 2018 elections.
Alobo Naga, who is also one of the core team member of the mission, mesmerizing the crowd and spread the message through music by singing the theme song “Achipiu Mlahnni”, while ‘Dreamz Unlimited’ entertained the gathering with a drama on Clean Election. The programme ended with NBCC pledge led by Rev. Hukugha Jimomi, E.S. SBAK (Nito Mount). Five members resolution committee led by Joshua Sheqi, Advocate presented and adopted 11 resolutions.
