• Small businesses will drive the adoption of developing employment in the society.
• The economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has depleted many businesses’ cash reserves.
• Although many states reopened after initial shutdowns, some are re-imposing restrictions, reigniting concerns around cash flow and the survival of small businesses.
Even to start a small business in Nagaland, loans might not be an option especially if they incurred financial loss during the pandemic. In such cases, alternative sources of funding like that of lenders and investors might be critical to attain funding for many entrepreneurs.
The present leading market in the social media
• The social media platforms have billions of users.
• It is no surprise that social media has been a growing target for marketers.
• Even for small business owners in Nagaland, one can easily open its own website.
• They can even supply their goods through other’s social media.
Example: If a small business owner does not know about the e-commerce, he or she can start up by using Instagram business page which is easy to use, and also a common platform for both the consumer and the seller.
Small business ideas
• Online teaching- When one is well educated with a particular topic, that person can go online which is a wide possibility for entrepreneurs to start their own ventures.
Example: Many influencers in Nagaland have also started to go online (YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram) which they go live to teach or share their knowledge to their followers or viewers.
• Online resellers- Those passionate about clothing and/or sales may want to consider starting an online reseller business.
Example: We can notice people who are interested in fashion or own a boutique are going online. They are opening online business page like that of Instagram or they are repeatedly posting their products in their WhatsApp status.
• Consultant- If a person is knowledgeable and passionate about a specific topic such business, social media, marketing, human resources, leadership, communication, etc., starting a consultant business can be a lucrative option.
Example: A teacher teaching the students during this pandemic through online medium or highly educated people even in our state who are unemployed can start their own online consultant sessions or programs to whomever are interested will be a great benefit for both the parties (the consultant and the learner).
• Carrier service- If one has a reliable vehicle or a two wheeler and a good time management skills, they can consider creating their own career service if they are interested in starting small career services.
Example: Even in our small town, people who owns two wheeler have started this business without any kind of dealership, they are going local which is a great deal for them, they are transporting food items (pork meat, chicken, etc.), if you know their capacity of transportation, you can easily order or supply through them.
• Food truck- With indoor dining limited in many locations right now, aspiring restaurateurs might find more success with a food truck. Food trucks come in all shapes and sizes, serving up a wide range of snacks and cuisines.
Example: There are food trucks even in our state which has been practiced just recently and they have maintained their status.
In conclusion, I would like to add that a good small business to start is a way to go for a young entrepreneur but be concerned about the workload. A good small business to start is any that fulfills you, requires you to use your skills and offers you a good work-life balance.
