The Kohima Smart City Development Limited (KSCDL) conducted Smart City Hackathon Innovation Challenge on June 20.
KSCDL chief executive officer Kovi Meyase told The Morung Express this event aim to gather innovative ideas from the young minds to carry forward Kohima smart city plan in the right perspective.
Meyase encouraged the bright young minds of the community to come forward with their ideas and innovations so that the Government can invest in viable innovative ideas which can help in building a smarter city which can benefit the public.
“To create a smart city, we need smart citizens and I am happy to witness the gathering of the smartest people coming together to share your ideas for building a better Kohima,” said Meyase.
10 teams from Kohima and Dimapur shared their idea and innovation on citizen challenges and smart solutions, smart city management and how to capture and use city data. eg. services, health, education, parks, roads etc.
Er. Atoba Longkumer with his innovative smart city app idea comprising of smart solutions won the first prize and received a cash prize of Rs. 50,000.
The second prize was bagged by Yinjun C Naam while Er. Vimhakhol Rhetso won the third prize and received Rs. 30,000 and Rs. 20,000 respectively.
The winning solution and prototype app developed by Er. Atoba Longkumer comprised of smart citizen centric services, GIS based information accessibility, citizen grievances and reporting modules, Govt regulated market price of commodities, helpline calling and reporting capabilities, ecommerce integration for selling of local products etc.
The presentation of Yinjun C Naam is on a solution to tackle drainage wastes by giving a detailed technical solution to build and install an innovative waste filter in drains and rivers.
Er. Vimhakhol Rhetso presented a civil engineering solution to replace bricks by using plastic bottles for building structures such as retaining walls, houses etc.
The judges for the event included Er. Ben Imchen (IIT Delhi alumnus – Innovator and Director of Elysium Tech, Hyderabad), Kezocholie Rhetso (Deputy Director, Urban Development Department, Govt of Nagaland and General Manager, Planning KSCDL) and Convener of the event, Er. Yanpvuo Kikon (Senior Technology Management Consultant, Kohima Smart City Development Limited).
