Zunheboto, February 12 (MExN): The Electrical Division, Zunheboto, has on February 12 informed that the department will begin phased installation of smart prepaid meters from February 18, in line with the Government of India’s target of 100 per cent smart metering under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).
The move follows directives from the Ministry of Power and is in reference to a letter issued by the Secretary, Power Department (No. PWR/RDSS-24/21(Pt-III), dated June 5, 2025) and the Chief Engineer (D&R) (No. CEL/D&R/RDSS/AMISP/445-48 dated June 12, 2025).
According to the notification, installation will begin with all government institutions, followed by commercial and bulk category consumers, and thereafter domestic consumers in a phased manner.
The initiative aims to improve energy management, billing transparency and efficiency in power consumption.
All concerned have been directed to comply strictly with the circular to ensure successful implementation of the scheme.
