
KOHIMA, FEBRUARY 11 (MExN): The Department of Power has informed all electricity consumers that it will start installation of smart prepayment meters from February 2025 onwards in the Urban and Rural areas covering all categories of consumers across the State. This is in compliance to the Gazette of India notifications and in conjunction with Nagaland Smart Metering Private Ltd (NSMPL) also called as smart meter AMISP (Advance Metering Infrastructure Service Provider), stated Chief Engineer, Department of Power, Kohima, Er Nitovi A Wotsa in a press release. It pointed out that installation of smart meters in pre-payment mode is being implemented on account of multiple benefits which includes enhances consumer satisfaction due to better control on usage of electricity, relief from the problems of delayed/incorrect billing and minimizing power outages due to unregulated usage of electricity. In this regard, all consumers have been requested to co-operate with the department and M/s Nagaland Smart Metering Private Ltd (NSMPL) for successful implementation of the program, the press release appealed.
