Sümi Hoho assures support to Zunheboto Police’s ‘war on drugs’

ZUNHEBOTO, APRIL 8 (MExN): The Sümi Hoho today assured its unflinching support to the Zunheboto Police’s ‘war on drugs’ and appealed to all concerned public and organizations to cooperate with the district police and the administration so that the menace of drugs abuse can be eradicated from society.

A press release from the Sümi Hoho said that the Zunheboto Police’s ‘war on drugs’ is “indeed turning out to be a huge success.” “The Zunheboto Police have garnered immense respect from all the concerned public and Civil Society Organizations of Zunheboto for taking up the challenge of curbing drug menace from our society,” it stated.

It added that with the introduction of the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition Act (NLTPA) 1989 and the failure in implementing the Act, liquor has become an item of illegal business practice. “Adulterated liquor, though available in every nook and corner, have become more expensive and so many users have switched to cheaper abusive substances in the form of different types of drugs which is easily available. Drugs have become a big menace in our society massacring many lives especially effecting young people,” the Sümi Hoho stated.

In such a juncture, it noted that the mission taken up by Zunheboto Police is “undoubtedly an uphill task but not an impossible mission.” “The Sümi Hoho applauds the Zunheboto district Superintendent of Police and his team supported by the district administration for declaring war on drugs,” it said.
