Kohima, December 14 (MExN): Kohima Legends, Lhomithi SC and Esa Warriors recorded victories in their respective matches of the 3rd Senior’s Masters League (SML 3) tournament played on December 13 and 14. In the first match on December 13, Kohima Legends won the toss and elected to bat, posting a formidable total of 223/6 in 20 overs.
The top order laid a strong foundation, which was further consolidated by the middle order. Tapito Thupitopr led the batting effort with 51 runs and later contributed with the ball, picking up two wickets.
In reply, Nzon CC struggled to keep pace with the required run rate and were restricted to 127/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Samuel Shohe top-scored for Nzon CC with 40 off 48 balls, but received little support from the rest of the batting line-up. Kohima Legends secured a comprehensive win.
Thupitopr was named Man of the Match.
In the second match on December 13, Kohima Old Boys won the toss and chose to bat, scoring 142/5 in 20 overs. Meren Jamir and Talikaba Pongen were the main contributors in building the total.
Lhomithi SC, however, chased down the target, reaching 143/4. Enam Uddin anchored the chase with 67 runs, while Tohoto Chisho provided support with 48, guiding the team to victory.
Uddin was adjudged Man of the Match for his innings. In the match played on December 14, Chumou Veterans won the toss and opted to bat, posting 113/4 in 20 overs. Nsamyibe and Lhoupe Koza were the key contributors for Chumou Veterans. Esa Warriors responded by reaching 117/1 in 15.3 overs. Wati Imsong top-scored with 58 off 45 balls, while Raza Barua added 34 off 41 balls, ensuring a comfortable chase.
Imsong was named Man of the Match.
