SML 3 sees wins for Kohima Old Boys, Esa Warriors and Lhomithi

Kohima, January 25 (MExN): Kohima Old Boys, Esa Warriors and Lhomithi registered victories in three matches played in the SML 3 tournament on January 24 and 25.

In the first match on January 24, Chumou won the toss and opted to field. Kohima Old Boys posted 145 for 6 in 20 overs, with Suneper anchoring the innings with 79 runs. Khriesamhalie provided support with 35. In reply, Chumou Veterans were restricted to 124 for 8 in 20 overs. Visakolie, Nsamyibe and Alongba Toshi attempted to stabilise the chase, but the required run rate continued to rise. A disciplined bowling performance from Kohima Old Boys sealed a 21-run win. Suneper, who scored 79 runs and took one wicket, was named Man of the Match.

In the second match on January 25, Kohima Legends won the toss and chose to bat but were limited to 132 for 8 in 20 overs. Esa Warriors’ bowlers maintained pressure throughout the innings, with Alongba Pongen claiming three wickets, Michael taking three wickets, and Rakesh picking up two. Chasing 133, Esa Warriors lost early wickets as their top order fell cheaply. The middle order rebuilt the innings, taking the match into the final over. Esa Warriors reached 133 for 7, with Sentongkaba sealing the win by hitting a boundary with two balls remaining. Alongba Pongen, who scored 41 runs and took three wickets, was awarded Man of the Match.

In the third match on January 25, Lhomithi won the toss and elected to bat, posting 190 for 3 in 20 overs. Enam Uddin scored 53, Hino Chishi made 65, Wapang Zong added 33 and Hamrung Langthasa contributed 20. In response, Nzon CC were restricted to 116 for 9 in 20 overs against a disciplined Lhomithi bowling attack. Shiyeto Wotsa scored 25, while Keibueding Nsarangbe and skipper Kenendi Apong scored 27 each. Hino Chishi, who scored 65 runs and took three wickets, was named Man of the Match.
