Dimapur, October 6 (MExN): Acting on specific information received, personnel from the Special Operation Team (SOT), Mobile Squad and the West Police Station raided a house in Duncan Bosti and recovered a huge cache of arms, ammunition, radio sets and explosives and arrested four persons early on October 5 here in Dimapur.
Briefing media persons at the West Police Station, the officer-in-charge of the station said the police personnel after receiving specific information from reliable sources, raided house number 307 located in Duncan Bosti.
The arrested smugglers have been identified as Rebenthung Tsopoe, Lirenthung Lotha and also two women, Pichano Humtose and Abeni. However, the main culprit has not yet been arrested so far and is absconding, police said. The seized materials include, a .22 Rifle, a country made gun along with a magazine and 380 rounds of bullets, 2 rocket launcher heads, a country made pistol with 2 magazines, 10 sticks of gelatin bombs, one US-made pistol, 97 rounds of AK 47 bullets, 2 LMG magazines, 1 AK magazine, 20 rounds of 7.56 ammunition, 2 meters of fuse wire, 5 wooden butts, 6 sophisticated walkie talkies (Kenwood and ICOM-IC-18), four aerials, 6 walkie talkie batteries and four battery chargers, 1 set of screwdrivers, 1 Samsung electronic device, 2 arms licenses and one Maruti Zen bearing registration number NL04C 0016.
However, what is interesting is, the police are in the dark regarding where the arms came from, for whom it was meant for.
