Kohima, December 15 (MExN): District level social audit and public hearing on Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) for 7 villages under Kohima district was held at DPDB Hall, Kohima on December 15.
A press release received here stated that the public hearing was conducted under the chairmanship of PD/DPC (MGNREGA) DRDA Kohima, Kevipodi Angami and in the presence of Assistant Audit Officer, AG office, Rajesh Pan, State Resource Person, Dr. Kedise Pucho, SAU (State Audit Unit) and stake holders from villages.
Dr, Kedise, in his introductory note emphasized on the importance of Social Audit and its outcome. Towards this end, he urged the villages to maintain records properly and maintain transparency as per MGNREGS guidelines so that there are no loopholes or misuse of funds.
Villages audited findings regarding worksite issues, MIS/Muster roll, job cards, total projects and amounts as per social audit verification and documents found at Block/villages and VDBs were highlighted by DPRs/VPRs followed by discussion village wise. Resolutions adopted during social audit gram sabhas were also presented by respective village chairmen.
Delivering the closing remarks, PD/DPC (MGNREGA) DRDA Kohima, Kevipodi Angami stressed on the need of documenting every project implemented and to put up signboards after completion of every programme whether big or small. He also reminded them to maintain registers and make entry of every materials received from the department. On the issue of diversion of funds after sanction, he strongly stated that funds have to be utilized strictly for the project sanctioned. Change of schemes, if any, has to be informed to the DPC for approval, he stated.
