Chandmari Higher Secondary School celebrates Golden Jubilee

Chairperson of Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE), Asano Sekhose today said that social institutions need to channelise efforts to educate and train the students to face rapid changes in different field and challenges confronting the society.
Speaking at the Golden Jubilee celebration of the Chandmari Higher Secondary School, Kohima under the theme, ‘Quinquagenery, Milestones made, legacies created,’ held in the school premises today, she called to create conducive environment that cultivates a genuine thirst for knowledge and encourage students to explore their passions naturally.
Sekhose referred to the NEP 2020 as a vision towards transformational shift in the education system which emphasises on developing the competency and critical skills of the learners.
“I urge the school to explore all possible ways to let the students unleash their potentials and chart their own success story,” she implored while calling the school to keep up its standard and work harder to achieve greater level of excellence.

The NBSE Chairperson maintained that the focus of learning process today should aim at making the students learn the fundamentals, have clarity and develop critical and analytical thinking skills. She further added that the education should become practical and applicable to students to accomplish their goals.
Describing alumni as the strength of not only its institution but the state, Sekhose also called the alumni, who now are an enviable number of responsible citizens in the service of the people, to work together and support the school in whatever ways possible.
The NBSE Chairperson feted the school, its pioneers and management for the vision and farsightedness in establishing the school in 1974.
First President of All Nagaland Private Schools Association (ANPSA) Pheluopfhelie Kesiezie said although it is a private school, it is peculiar because it is not owned by an individual, or strong organization like a church or council but sponsored and taken care and nurtured by people living around this area who maybe not permanent as well but both new and old people. He said the school belongs to many people here which were unique in itself.
He said in such a mobile locality, it was appreciative and remarkable that a school of such standing quality exists. Kesiezie also wished for many more success stories from the school.
Jubilee planning convener and Principal CHSS, Asenla Temsu while giving the welcome address, thanked God for the last 50 years of the school which started from a small tutorial classroom of tiny tots founded by Aienla Bendang along with a few of her like-minded friends.
She expressed pride over the school success through the years with number of alumni working in diverse profession today. With a total enrolment of 147 students in 1974, the school now has over 1000 students, more than 60 staffs and 6 competent board members.
Short speech was also delivered by Holy Family Higher Secondary School, Principal, Ashikho Boso. The jubilee monolith was unveiled by Rev Dr Meyu Changkiri, Pastor Ao Baptist Church, Shillong. He also prayed for the programme and Rev Tiatoshi Longkumer, Pastor Kohima Baptist Ao Arogo pronounced the thanksgiving prayer. Managing board, CHSS delivered vote of thanks and songs were presented by Junior Choir, Jubilee Choir and Alumni.
