Social welfare dept bids farewell to director

Kohima | May 31 : The state’s department of social welfare today accorded a farewell to its outgoing director Nochet Aier and outgoing superintendent R. Kari, both retired after serving the department for 35 years.
In the farewell programme held here today at the Directorate of Social Welfare, parliamentary secretary for social welfare & women development Chotisüh Sazo congratulated the duo for successful completion of the 35 years of service and also lauded their commendable services towards the department and the state government. The parliamentary secretary also complimented the duo for dealing the affair of the department even in the difficult times and thereby marking the smooth and successful function of the department thus far. Sazo stated that the duo have been retiring from the active service of the department but maintained that they are still young and energetic, adding “You have not retired from your active life.” He called upon them to be more active in their social life and continue to do good things towards the betterment of the society. Further, Sazo urged the officers and staff of the department to renew their vision and gear to take the department to a new chapter under the incoming directorship of Khevito T. Shohe.
Also speaking on the occasion, social welfare secretary Neihu C. Thur, IAS called upon the officers and staff to work unitedly and address the needs of the weaker section of the society. Stating that team spirit is required, Thur also stressed on the need to maintain the department as a family, one vision, one voice so as to deliver fully to the targeted people of the state. Khevito T. Shohe, OSD social welfare was also all praise the ongoing director and superintendent for rendering good service to the department, adding that the courage and quality of leadership left behind by them will be protected and cherished.
Outgoing director Nochet Aier was appreciative of the department for honoring and recognizing him in befitting manner. He declared that whatever achievement has been made in the department over the years was due to the collective effort of officers and staff. Stating that everyone is equally important, he maintained that had not been the collective effort, the department would not reach thus far. Also thanking all for sharing joy and struggle together, he was hopeful that the officers and staff would continue to work together towards the upliftment of the deprived and needy section of the society.
Outgoing superintendent R. Kari in his speech appreciated the department for organizing a benefiting programme in their honour, adding that he will always cherished the love and affection shown to him. He also challenged the staff to be sincere in their duties, adding “Work is worship” and at the same time called upon them to render their best service to the people.
Imkong Longkumer, DWO Mokokchung and Thsopelo Kapfo, registrar (SW) also spoke on the occasion.
Welcome address was delivered by C. Merangtsungba Aier, joint director while D.T.H. Anthony, programme office (SW) proposed vote of thanks.
