Social Welfare dept holds consultative meeting

Kohima, October 23 (MExN): The Department of Social Welfare (DoSW) organized a consultative meeting with District Welfare Officers and Welfare Inspector at hotel Japfü, Kohima on October 22.

Michael Zaren, Director on his keynote address said that the Social Welfare Department takes care of the downtrodden people. He highlighted various schemes and the challenges face by the department and reminded District Welfare Officers that they are the nodal officers in district level.

A press release stated here that Commissioner & Secretary, Sarah R Ritse said that Social Welfare department caters to the most vulnerable, the most sensitive and the most neglected section of the society. She urged upon the officers to keep close relationship with their respective District Administration as the Deputy Commissioner’s involvement is necessary in implementation of various schemes in the districts.

Presentation was on various activities and programmes were presented by State Commissioner for Person with Disabilities, Programme Manager for Elder Line and State Co-ordinator for State Resource Centre for Women (SRCW), where District Officers were briefed about their roles and responsibilities. The meeting deliberated on payment of NSAP through PFMS and end-to-end digitization of various schemes implemented by the Department. The programme was chaired by Tosheli Zhimomi OSD.
