
Kohima, September 29 (MExN): Ward Adoption Committee for 10th Northern Angami 1 A/C under the chairmanship of Khriehu Liezietsu MLA organized and sponsored a mass social work at Keneizou Colony on September 25. The social work was organized as part of the Kohima DPDB’s initiative with the aim to create awareness and encourage community participation towards building a healthy society, a DIPR release stated.
Kovi Meyase Administrator, KMC and Kohima Town Council provided JCBs, dumper trucks, labourers for repairing and widening of roads, clearing the drains and transportation of waste to KMC dumping site. With the objective of uplifting the living standards of the rural villages, the Kohima DPDB in the year 2010 brought out a concept known as Village Adoption Programme. However, the release added, “under the present scheme it was decided to select just one village or ward, which is underdeveloped, each year from each of the six Assembly Constituencies under Kohima District by the chosen committee.”
