The Northeast region is crucible where Aryans, Dravidians and Mongoloid races are inter mixed. It is enveloped by Bhutan, Nepal and China in the North and the Northeast, and in the South by Bangladesh and Myanmar. It is connected to the rest of India by the sole 20 km wide Siliguri corridor through which all life line to the Northeast pass. The region is therefore very sensitive from the point of view of national security threat and national integrity. The remoteness of this region and its mix is further complicated by the influx of refugees and illegal Bangladesh Muslim in large numbers. It has created Socio-Ethnic tension, identity crises and dilution of political power to indigenous people. This is for all the public awareness that in Dimapur many illegal migrants are infiltrating every now and then there are reports of rape and murder cases, extortions, robbery, car lifting, kidnappings…etc in the state.
So let’s go back and do a little study from where it started. (In brief) During the Mughal invasion in 1662(Mughals lost the war) Some Muslims soldiers and camp followers stayed back, after the war in lower Assam. They got employed into the royal court for interpretation of Persian documents, arts and crafts. Assam was proud feat like the Nagas as they were also a warring tribal…and after many decades Assam valley came under British rule in 1842 during which time the first white collared were the Bengalis, Assamese considered it below their dignity to work (Like us) as manual labours, rickshaw pullers, head load labours etc.As much Bangladeshi illegal immigrants or the Biharis were employed. The land owners, casual and easy going attitude just like we Nagas, just wanted to sit and eat and laze around.
In the mean time Bengali Hindus and Marwaris using their superior economic power and entrepreneurship got hold most of the land. They needed labours to work in the fields so they employed illegal migrants from Bangladesh and gave them land for settlement and now we see most of the lower Assam and middle Assam is mostly dominated by the Muslims (meyas, adivasis, etc) and terrorism has rocked the entire area under different names sponsored by terror groups. In our neighboring states and different parts of the country we hear about people killed in bomb blast and different act of terrorism, as of now it hasn’t yet happened to that extent but we never know it can be here anytime.
This is just a general awareness to one and all to be aware to check and control the menace before it is too late…Because we have no idea how many illegal migrants are infiltrating inside Dimapur (Nagaland). Nagaland is boundary to Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Myanmar and Manipur.Dimapur is the most important hub in Nagaland, where all people in and around Nagaland and the neighboring states venture in different business avenues. And many energetic youths are coming up in different business sectors, talent publicity and erudite state and central Government service… so it is our duty to safeguard our land. As we see the adjoining western part of Nagaland, there are many illegal settlers as farm hands, manual labors, auto and richshallawas.. etc.this factor with the additive of lower economic growth and development will result in serious discontentment and the cause will be insurgency, terrorism and demands for secession.
If we don’t partake to our responsibility it can be a contagious socio-ethnic threat. It’s our tour of duty that can avert any illegal act which may hinder our general innocent public for tranquility and prosperity to this region. Let’s tally some marginal use to decree and primary objective of supremacy, revenue; economy, development etc. are we independent or dependent? We have journeyed and have seen and read many chicanery and procrastinations to avoid bitterness and hostility, to alter demographic balance for our integrity and security we should come together as one in one idiom to defend from any extraterrestrial domination and security threat.
